Welcome to the Dev Log for Major Decisions!

Major Decisions is a game built during the 12 week bootcamp from Game Design Skills – Game Design Fundamentals and Prototyping.

Initial concept for Major Decisions. This paper prototype was built for proof of concept using dry erase cards and tokens for quick iterations.

After paper prototype, built out the game board and card templates in Miro.

Iterations # 5

Playtests # 3

Prepped for first playtest.

Immediately during setup, I realized I needed to revise the board. There was no room for the Major cards! I corrected this by removing the Discard pile since it served no real purpose.

Other takeways from this playtest were:

  • Need for better time tokens
  • Urgency to replace the AI images on the backs of cards
  • Clarity on how the player cards are used
  • Setup instructions on the QuickStart Guide
  • Rounds were very short and unbalanced
  • Players liked the flavor text that some cards had
